Pet Sitter America

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What does it mean when your sitters are certified?

A. Certified means that our sitters have completed a course of study in animal care and health issues through NAPPS the National Associational of Professional Pet Sitters. This course teaches our sitters what to look for in a pet that may be showing signs of illness and how to deal with a pet in a medical emergency.
In the case of cats, they were studied and tested in the publication “Cat Owners Home Veterinary Hand Book” by Delbert G. Carlson, D.V.M. & James M. Giffin, M.D.
In the case of dogs they studied and were tested on the publication “Dog Owners Home Veterinary Hand Book” by Delbert G. Carlson, D.V.M. & James M. Giffin, M.D.
The exam consists of 80 questions such as, “What is the most common health problem seen in cats, indicated by intense itching, violent head shaking, a dry crumbly, and foul smelling, dark brown waxy discharge from the ears?” & “What are some of the most common poisons seen by vets?”

Q. Why shouldn't I have my neighbor's child check on my pet?

A. In most cases you get what you pay for. Most people would feel better by knowing that their pets and home are in safe hands and if something does go wrong, we are fully insured. All of our pet sitters are professionally trained, bonded and insured individuals skilled in providing loving care to pets and homes.

Q. What time will you visits my pets?

A. When caring for your pets, we strive to keep as close to their daily routine as possible. When we meet with you for your initial consultation, tell us about your pet's normal activities and we will do our best to keep that schedule!

Q. What is the reason for the free In-Home Consultation?

A. There is no charge for our first consultation. It gives our sitter the opportunity to meet you, get acquainted with your pets and get detailed information about caring for your pets and your home.
Should you decide to use us, the sitter will complete a service agreement with you and pick up a house key.
